Crivitz VFW Auxiliary Officers are Installed
A meeting of the Crivitz Memorial VFW Auxiliary Post 2063 was called to order at 7 p.m. by President Nora Swanson at the Crivitz Legion Hall. Ten members were present and a new member, Sarah Taylor, was welcomed.
Chaplain Carol Reichardt read the opening prayers, followed by the patriotic theme read by Elizabeth Fellows and the Pledge of Allegiance recited by everyone. Secretary Mary Samsa read the minutes of the April 14 meeting with motion to accept and Treasurer LaVerne Lundberg gave the financial report which was filed for audit.
It was voted to send a congratulatory monetary gift for the start-up of the new VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Tomahawk.
Letters, calls, and e-mails can still be made to legislators even if they are in recess. Needs do not stop and reminders are necessary to keep veterans in the forefront.
There will be a June Convention Hospital Projects drive for items needed for veterans. A motion was made to send a monetary gift for the purchase of items.
Installation of officers took place. Nora Swanson is president, Carol Reichardt, vice-president and Chaplain, LaVerne Lundberg is treasurer, Jolene Boehmke, secretary, Mary Samsa, historian, and Elizabeth Fellows, Joy Lundberg and Annette Bevier are trustees.
VFW Commander Brian Boehmke said help is needed for distribution of poppies, a brat fry at Piggly Wiggly and food stand at the John Shaffer Pavilion after the 4th of July parade. Sign up sheets will be available at the June meeting.
The Unit continues to collect Campbell Soup labels for the VFW Home for Children at Eaton Rapids, Mi.
The meeting adjourned with the closing prayers according to the rituals. The next meeting will be Monday, June 9.
