Coleman Village Trustees To Review Cedar Contract

The Coleman Village Board reviewed an engineering and consulting contract it had signed in May with Cedar Corporation of Green Bay. Trustees spent much of their meeting Monday, June 2, examining the written contract and a cover letter outlining the 90-day verbal agreement that was approved. Board members were eager to have consultants available to talk about the availability of land and utility services in the Village, yet several trustees expressed a desire to have more information about the scope of the agreement and the way in which the hourly fee would be charged. Village President Glenn Woulf will call the company and ask them to send a representative to the next Board meeting.

In other business, the Board adopted Marinette County’s Wisconsin Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan as its official plan. This action coordinates Coleman’s emergency responses with that of Marinette County, and brings the village into compliance with a state law requiring all municipalities to have such a plan.

Open Book was set for Monday, July 14 from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Residents who want to speak with the village’s assessor about their property assessments are welcome to come and ask questions and discuss their situations. The Board of Review meeting is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 6 P.M.

The new village park has a fishing pier and a swing set. Topsoil has been brought in and grass planted.

Class A Beer and Class A Liquor Licenses were granted to Dennis Pelkin of Crivitz for Pelkin’s Piggly Wiggly and Kurt Boulanger of New Franklin for Cougar Shell. Class B Beer and Class B Liquor Licenses to Leanne Krueger of Leanne’s Green Lantern, John O. Maye for Fortier’s, Beverlee Mongin for Where Friends Gather LLC and Robert L. Talbot for Barnstormers Ltd. All four licensees reside in Coleman.

Richard Steiner was granted a Class B Fermented Malt Beverage License for Steiner’s Northwoods Inc. A Temporary Class B Fermented Malt Beverage License was granted to the Coleman Fire Department for their Fireman’s picnic July 18-20.

Cigarette and tobacco licenses were issued to Pelkin’s Piggly Wiggly, Steiners Northwoods, Inc, and Bay BP LLC for Cougar Shell.

Three operator’s licenses for bartending and selling alcoholic products were renewed for Barnstormer’s, seven renewed licenses and a new one were granted for Cheer’s, four renewed licenses and three new were granted for Cougar Shell, three renewal licenses and one new for Jiz’s Fortiers, four renewed licenses for Leanne’s Green Lantern, and three for Pelkin’s Piggly Wiggly.

Building permits were given to Lori Pasdo, Joe Broswick, Tim Maye, Dave Baker, James Charnesky, Dave Brand, and Dave Argall for home improvements and to Dave Podoski to remodel a commercial building at 221 Business 141 North into a residence. Building inspector Jim Buschman also worked with two complaint situations.

Officer Ida Soletske of the Colemean Police Department reported that she received 36 complaints during May, and issued citations to 12 adults and three juveniles. The Department purchased a new computer for the office when the hardware failed on the old computer. The Fire Department responded to one accident and one lift assist during the month.

Finance co-chairperson Nancy Stank reported the village receipts in May were $8,793.11 and $8,000 was transferred in from other accounts. The May payroll was $10,634.04 and other expenditures totaled $22,635.19. All the village’s accounts totaled $438,397.99 on May 31.
