THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Volunteer at VA Facility
Issue Date: June 6, 2014
Twice monthly the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 has volunteers visit the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Facility at Iron Mountain, Mich. Last month, they participated in the 4th Annual VA2K Walk & Roll. Residents who were able to participate by wheel chair were assisted by the volunteers.
Purpose of the Walk-A-Thon was to promote a healthy living style and to raise money for homeless Veterans. All funds raised were used to purchase gas cards and Walmart gift certificates.
Anyone interested in donating to the VA2K Walk & Roll fund should contact the Iron Mountain Volunteer Coordinator at the facility or the VA Hospital Associate Deputy Cora Gavigan of Wausaukee Unit 150.
