THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Emil Blom, 73, passed away Friday, June 13 surrounded by his family.
Born April 13, 1941, to Emil and Gertrude (Nicklaus) Blom, he was raised on a dairy farm in Porterfield and moved to Oregon at the age of 18 where he met and married Roselea. They raised their family in Cottage Grove, celebrating 52 years of marriage in May. He was a millwright contractor and owned an industrial construction business.
He is survived by his wife, Roselea Blom; children, Renee, Rob and Krista; two grandsons; a sister, Lois Lund, of Eugene Ore.; a brother, Allan Blom, of Menominee, Mi.; many nieces; nephews and other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at Smith Lund Funeral Home in Cottage Grove. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
