Jerome D. Horen
Jerome (Jerry) D. Horen, 80, Village of Howard (Duck Creek), passed away Tuesday, June 24 at home peacefully after a battle with cancer.
Born in Marinette on Mar. 10, 1934 to the late Lyle and Marie (Picard) Horen, he was raised in Peshtigo and graduated from Peshtigo High School. He worked at WLUK Channel 11 in Marinette before moving to Green Bay and was the chief photographer for TV 11 traveling with the Packers in the 1960s before transferring to sales in the 1970s as an account executive.
He married Connie Lou Braun on Mar. 9, 1973 at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Howard. They were the first couple to be married in the church and have been active members since.
He worked at WLUK-TV from 1954 to 1985 and then became owner and operator of Boats-&-Us Inc. Marine Outlet in Little Chute from 1985-1990. He was an account executive at HVS Advertising & Marketing from 1990-2012. He served as Village of Howard trustee, chairman of the Economic & Industrial Development Committee, was on the board of the Brown County Planning Commission, former board member of Emergency Rescue Squad, board member of Village of Howard Police & Fire Commission, Fox Valley Diabetic Association board of directors, presently a director for Sustainable Resources Institute Inc. and a member of the Howard-Suamico Optimist Club. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; children, Justin (Bonnie) Horen, Barry Horen; five grandchildren; in-laws, Bev (Chuck) Wruck. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Family and friends called at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Howard, on Saturday, June 28 from 9 until 11 a.m. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Frank Kauzlarich officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name at the church.
