THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Doris Anna Marie (Suring) Jansen, 94, of Suring, passed away Saturday, June 28.
An active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes, she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Aid, LWML, Choir and other church functions. Also a member of the Friends of the Suring Area Public Library, she enjoyed spending time at Shay Lake, worked for many years at the Suring Red Owl and retired from the Suring Milling Company.
Survivors are her children, Donald (Laraine) Jansen, of Venice, Fla., Michael (Sharon) Jansen, of Suring, Judithann (Phillip) Drexler, of Pickett and Jane Piper, of Willards, Md.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Suring, Erna Czysz, Donna (Arlan) Tetzlaff, Iris (David) Erickson and Karen (Gerald) Wendt; sister-in-law, Mae Adams; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Jansen in June of 1984; an infant daughter, Doris; her parents, Henry and Helena Suring; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Edith Jansen; brother, Gordon Suring; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, LaVern and Owen Schoenebeck; and brothers-in-law, Rodean Suring and Raymond Czysz.
Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Wednesday, July 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 3 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes from 9:30 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Nick Buchholz will officiate with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations will be directed to St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes in her name.
