Olga H. Deckert, 85, Oconto Falls, passed away Sunday evening, June 29.
Born Oct. 27, 1928 in Oconto Falls, to Gustave and Louise (Reinsch) Milchner, she grew up in Oconto Falls where she was baptized, confirmed, married and a lifelong member at Grace Lutheran Church. On Dec. 29, 1945, she married Christian Deckert in Oconto Falls and they remained devoted to each other for 68 years, giving thanks and praise to God Almighty.
An artist, she took orders from around the world and has her paintings placed in Italy, England, the Hawaiian Islands and numerous other places in the United States. The couple spent their winters in Port Charlotte, Fla. for 23 years. Her strong commitment to the Christian faith was one she daily lived and was a witness to many.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Christ Deckert, Oconto Falls; a son, Chris (Carmella) Deckert, Elk Grove, Ill.; three grandchildren and a brother, Erich (Belva) Milchner, Oconto Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeff Deckert on Nov. 29, 2008; a brother, Carl (Grace Hardtke) Milchner; two sisters, Clara (Al) Wentland and Lydia Wentland and a brother-in-law, Ray Wentland.
Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 3 until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Larry Bong will officiate with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
