Alice E. Nieft
Alice Emma (Rettke) Nieft, 89, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Monday, July 7.
Born March 17, 1925 in Marinette, to Carl and Alma (Kamin) Rettke, she married her husband of 61 years, John Nieft on May 16, 1953. She worked at Vans Greenhouse and Florist in Green Bay for many years.
A devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Green Bay, she had a large family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She enjoyed working in her sewing room, creating many beautiful dolls, doll dresses and afghans that her family will cherish.
She is survived by her husband, John; five children, Judy Martin (Kathy Solie), John Hal Nieft (Trisha Nolan), Cindy Nieft, Tina Anderson (Bob Chamberlain) and Lori (Jay) Roberts; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Jo; sisters, Vi Ruechel, Lorraine Schuett, Eleanor Farr and Dorothy Millard and a brother, Harold Rettke.
Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 514 S. Clay St., Green Bay on Wednesday, July 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, July 10 at 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Jon Zabell will officiate with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund has been established in her name. Proko-Wall Funeral Home of Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.
