Gregg Simon Meser, 69, of Menomonie, Wi., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, after a courageous battle with cancer at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Born Sept. 8, 1944 in Manitowoc, to Harold and Floraine "Ardy" (Wehrwein) Meser, he graduated from Green Lake High School and Madison Business College. He married Barbara Patzke on May 8, 1976 at West Side Moravian Church in Green Bay and worked in the financial industry for 25 years at eastern and central Wisconsin banks.
He had a strong faith beginning at an early age, which led to his calling in ministry. He was a second career local pastor for 15 years, serving the Glen Hills Parish United Methodist Church in Downing, Emerald and Glenwood City. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan and enjoyed reading, writing and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Menomonie; a daughter, Leigh (Eddie) Engesether, of Blaine, Mn.; a son, Mark (Crystal), of Menomonie; a granddaughter; a brother, Jeff (Retta), of Brookfield; a sister, Lane (Gary) Mudra, of Bayside; his wife's family, Richard (Sue) Patzke, of Crivitz, Don (Linda) Patzke, of Pulaski and Nancy (Randy) Knapton, of Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ardy; in-laws, Myron and Margaret Patzke; grandparents and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at West Moravian Church in Green Bay. Rev. Marian Boyle will officiate with burial in West Side Moravian Cemetery in Green Bay. Olson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
