Bernard J. Gabriel
Bernard Bernie Joseph Gabriel, Jr., 71, of Marinette, passed away on Friday, July 18 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born July 6, 1943 in California, to Bernard and Margaret (Peterson) Gabriel, Sr., he graduated from Marinette High School in 1962 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war from 1962-1966.
He lived in California until 1987, when he moved to Marinette and married Gwendolyn Eland on June 28, 1991. He worked for Rydahls Laundry, Aramark and J& D Rental until they closed and he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn; her children whom he considered his own, sons, Steven Mays, of Marinette , Todd (Kim) Mays, of Escanaba and son-in-law, Dale Olson, of Marinette; a daughter, Tracy Mays, of Green Bay; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Roy) Randall, Sr., of Two Rivers, Jane Smith, Janet Queever and Judy Badalamenti, all of Marinette, Kathy Johnson, of West Allis and Carol (Pat) Schomaker, of Annandale, Mn.; brothers, Ken (Renee) Gabriel and Kevin (Linda) Gabriel, both of Marinette; a brother-in-law, Clair (Greta) Eland, of Menominee; sisters-in law, Janice Gabuealt, of Menominee and Pat (Manny) Petrich, of Gresham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Wendy Olson.
