THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Barbara "Willy" (Willmann) Koury, 65, of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, July 20.
Born June 15, 1949, in Marinette, to Roy and Kay (Coffey) Willmann, her mother died at a young age and she was raised by her father and step-mother, Helen Willmann. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Marinette Catholic Central High School in 1968 and also from NWTC. She started her career at West Bank and Trust and most recently worked at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
On Oct. 1, 1992, she received a kidney transplant from her sister, Kate, the greatest gift besides her children, Ryan and Meghan. She enjoyed life to its fullest and loved to sing, garden, plan family events, watch movies, read, crochet and trips to Door County, but especially enjoyed making people smile.
She is survived by a son and daughter, Ryan Koury and Meghan (significant other, Shane) Koury; their father, Rick Koury; a grandson; four brothers and three sisters, Mike McDonnell and his wife, Stephanie Blazer, Mary (Tom) Koslowski, Kate Nowicki, Tim Willmann, her twin brother, Roy (Kathy) Willmann, John (Kathy) Willmann and Sue (Don) Kissinger; five brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Bob (Paula) Koury, Joe (Sissy) Koury, Dianna (Dan) Seidel, Dennis Koury, Dave (Mary Jo) Koury and Mary Jeanne (Jeff) Dobratz; 27 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great-niece; a great-great-nephew and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patti Owl and a brother, Tom McDonnell.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay from 4 p.m. until time of a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22. Visitation will continue at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 9 a.m. until time of a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23. Rev. John Bergstadt will officiate. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
