From our readers

Letter to Editor:

Marinette Youth Baseball/Softball, Inc. would like to thank everyone for their support during the 2014 Ohio Valley Regional Baseball Tournament for 15 year olds this past week. Without the support of our major sponsors, businesses, all the volunteers, committee heads, grounds crew, hotels, press, radio station, this huge undertaking would not have been possible.

The many hours of volunteer planning made this one of the most enjoyable tourneys that most of these teams have ever been at. The teams and fans had nothing but praise for the people in the Marinette area. The Ohio Valley Regional Commissioner was so impressed by the support in Marinette he suggested maybe a World Series is next in line for Marinette. What a great compliment to all who helped make this a great experience for our own young men but for the 11 other teams that traveled to Marinette. Nothing but praise from everyone during this huge tourney.

Once again, thank you for support Marinette Youth Baseball/Softball, Inc.

Dave Francour/Pam Daye,

Tournament Host

To the Editor:

Did terrorists steal the Sherman Tank from Crivitz and make it operational? I didn’t think so!

Therefore, there is ABSOLUTELY no credible reason for the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department to waste hundreds of thousands of their family, friends’ & neighbor’s hard-earned tax dollars on a vehicle with absolutely no practical use, nor benefit to the honest, law abiding citizens of Marinette County!

There have never been, nor will there ever be, any threats of such magnitude in Marinette County that could ever justify the need for the Sheriff’s Department to have a Military Armored Attack Vehicle! If such a threat ever materializes in Marinette County (God Forbid) then it would be a foregone conclusion that war has come to the United States/Wisconsin and it would then be the Military, and Militia, that protects us, not the Sheriff’s Department!

This is so obviously another means for the alleged law enforcement officers of our county/cities to inflict fear and terror into the lives of innocent, honest, law abiding citizens for the sole purpose of exercising their illegal, unconstitutional control over our lives, just as they are doing now at their Illegal, unconstitutional roadside checkpoints! I thought they swore an oath to protect us and obey The U.S. Constitution, NOT to control & intimidate us and spit upon our Constitution!

This kind of arrogant, egotistical behavior, by alleged law enforcement officers, must stop, or this behavior will only result in the total destruction of what little trust, confidence & respect that we innocent, honest, law abiding citizens have left for the law enforcement community in Marinette County!

If we, the people do not speak out, especially at the next election, in protest of this kind of despicable behavior, then our freedom will be lost and we will ALL be under the control of an illegal, unconstitutional police state, AKA Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia and Communist China!

I strongly suggest that it be mandatory for all of our law enforcement officers to be participating members in good standing of honorable, upstanding organizations such as Oathkeepers.org and The Constitutional Sheriffs & Peace Officers Association, just to name a few. Then maybe they can start earning back the trust, confidence & respect that they have deliberately torn away from we, the people that employ them!

Call/write your County Supervisors, Folks! Speak up or lose all! It is your obligation as a citizen of the United States of America!

Remember, IT’S WE, THE PEOPLE, NOT YOU THE GOVERNMENT!

Ted Lee,

Porterfield
