Michael R. Chapman
Michael R. Chapman, 80, of Niagara, passed away surrounded by family Thursday, July 24 in Twin Lakes, at the home of his daughter.
Born Feb. 16, 1934, in Niagara, to Harry and Elizabeth (LaRoche) Chapman, he was raised on the farm in Niagara. He moved to the Chicago area and later returned to Niagara. He was married to Elizabeth Gussert from 1952 to 1978 and they had six children. He worked with his brothers as a carpenter, a trade he passed along to his sons. After returning to Niagara he was employed at GAF. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and took pride in his garden.
He is survived by children, Linda (Chas Hackney) Chapman, of Wauwatosa, Harry (Maria) Chapman and Barbara Chapman, both of Twin Lakes, Michael Chapman Jr., of Genoa City, Tony (Lynne) Chapman, of Eau Claire and Lola Chapman, of Waterford; a brother, Eugene Chapman, of Niagara; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Leona (Chapman) Van Ginkel, Lawrence Chapman, Robert Chapman, Sidney Chapman, Hazel (Chapman) Jacobson, Thressa (Chapman) Cretton, David Buck Chapman and Fred Chapman and longtime companion, Lorraine Curran.
Burial services were held on Monday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest, Chapman Family Cemetery in Niagara. Memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home Animal Shelter in Quinnesec, Mi., (906) 774-1005. Ortman Funeral Home of Norway assisted the family with arrangements.
