Mildred J. Knack, 89, of Green Bay, passed away July 27 at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1924, to Walter and Olive Kushman in Marinette, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1942 and moved to Chicago where she worked at the Chicago Tribune. She married Lester Knack on July 24, 1950 and later in life, graduated Summa Cum Laude from UW-Green Bay.
With a love for animals, she enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife in her backyard. The couple raised champion Bull Mastiff dogs, showing them throughout the country.
She is survived by a sister, Marilyn Long, Marinette; a sister-in-law, June Chmurski, Waupaca; a niece April (Mike) Moran, Green Bay; a nephew, Jeff Kirchner (fiance, Sarah) and his children, Jessica and Jacob, Shawano; a nephew, Mitchell Long, Menominee, Mi. and special friends, Gary and Pamela Bassett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Walter and Olive Kushman; a sister, Maxine Kirchner; brothers-in-law, Jerome Kirchner and Morris Long; a niece, Dr. Marci Long and numerous friends.
