John M. Giesler, Jr.
John M. Giesler Jr., 71, of Abrams, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2 at home with his family at his side.
Born Aug. 22, 1942, in Green Bay to John "Jack" and Beatrice (Gillis) Giesler, Sr., he graduated from West High School in 1960. On April 4, 1964, he married Doris Rodaer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He worked for the Green Bay Fire Department for 31 years and retired as Battalion Chief.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his cabin in Athelstane, he referred to as "God 's Country". An avid Beagler and proudly raised four field champions, he loved riding his Harley, was an active member in the Wildfire H.O.G. Chapter of Peshtigo and enjoyed cooking for the Vandervest Harley Dealership events and belonged to St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dave Touchet and Sandra and Jim Levins; two granddaughters; a sister, Jackie Williams; sisters-in-law, Janet (Lee) Hermsen, Barbara Rodaer and Marleen Rodaer; many nieces; nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Loretta Rodaer; brothers-in-law, Wayne Williams, Ronald Rodaer and Richard Rodaer and a sister-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Wendricks.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay from 4 p.m. until time of a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Visitation will continue at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, St. John Cantius Site, 6051 Noble St., Sobieski from 10 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. Rev. Gerald Prusakowski O.F.M. will officiate with burial in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
