THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Arvilla Johnson, 97, of Oconto Falls, passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 12 at Sharpe Care.
Born Sept. 7, 1916 in Mountain, to Albert and Jessie (Hurning) Bartz, she grew up in the Mountain area and graduated from high school in 1934. On Sept. 4, 1936, she married Bob Johnson in Oconto Falls. She lived in Oconto Falls for most of her life and was employed at Helstad Drug Store for almost 30 years.
A longtime member of Oconto Falls United Methodist Church, she was active in many church activities. She also belonged to the Oconto Falls Womans Club, the CMH Auxiliary, River Island Golf Club and participated in many bridge clubs. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and giving person who liked to give hugs.
She is survived by three children, Bob BJ (Sharon) Johnson and Bonnie (Vic) Peterson, both of Oconto Falls and Bill Scrap (Alberta Bert) Johnson, of Redding, Ca.; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Johnson on Jan. 5, 1967; four brothers, Harvey, Chester, Delbert and Bill Bartz and a sister, Sylvia Oshwaldt.
Visitation will be held at the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church from 8:30 a.m.until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. Pastor Jerry Cho will officiate with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
