Virgina Mary (Berger) Schetter, 85, of Carney, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Born Aug. 21, 1929 in Bagley, to Alfred and Emma (Wagner) Berger, on Oct. 30, 1948, she married Frank Schetter at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau, Mi. She worked in the housekeeping department at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility for 13 years, retiring in 1992 and made brush blankets for Verbisky Berger Evergreens for many years.
A member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, she enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cards and wintering in Florida, but it was family that brought her most joy.
Survivors include her children, Carol (Jim) Burmeister, of Marinette, Jane (David) Eichhorn, of Daggett, Mi., Larry (Sue), of Palatine, Ill., Wayne (Janet), of Wheeling, Ill., Kenneth (Joan), of Delray, Fla. and Gerald (Tuesday), of Powers, Mi.; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Verbisky, of Daggett, Mi., Lucille (Jim) Douglass, of Amsterdam, N.Y. and Mabel (George) Eichhorn, of Carney, Mi. and a sister-in-law, Catherine Berger of Bagley, Mi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a son, John and a brother, Charles Berger.
Family received friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 4 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Nadeau on Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Fr. Emmett Norden officiated with burial in Nadeau Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
