THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Peggy Barrows, age 96, of Peshtigo, passed away peacefully at Rennes Center-West on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.
She was born in Chicago on Jan. 22, 1918, daughter of the late Roy and Karen (Ness) Barrows. Peggy worked over 40 years in Chicago and retired from a Buick dealership. She moved to Amberg after retirement and was a member of the Amberg Historical Society. She will be missed.
Peggy is survived by nieces and nephews: Debra Flom, Karen (Dennis) Benson, Laurel (Phil) Busch, Harry Spencer Jr., Ellen (Chris) Stier, Mary (Tom) Mendralla, John (Pat) Cabaj, William (Rose) Cabaj Jr., Roy (Monica) Diehl, Dave (Pam) Barrows and Marilyn Diehl; brother-in-law, Walter Flom; and numerous other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Florence Diehl, Olea Cabja, Irene Spencer, Mabel Flom and Ernest Barrows as well as nephews David Flom, Al Diehl Jr. and James Cabaj.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at the Amberg Cemetery with Pastor Lin Wittmann officiating. Peggys family would like to send a very special thank you to all the staff at Rennes-West for the wonderful care given to Peggy over the years.
