THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Elmer Guseck, 90, of Marinette, passed away Aug. 29 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1924, to Emil and Augusta (Stank) Guseck, he married the former Caroline M. Depner on March 6, 1948 in Oconto Falls. She preceded him in death April 5, 1995. He farmed until his retirement and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, especially with his hounds dogs.
He is survived by, two sons, Lynn (Audrey) Guseck, of Porterfield and Ron (Mimi) Guseck, of Marinette; a daughter, Gwen (Stephen) VandeLaarschot, of Peshtigo; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Esther, Clara, Edwin, Earl, Elsward, Elgin and Judy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; a brother, Ervin and a sister, Angie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m. Pastor Jeff Teeple will officiate with burial in Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery. Donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 4009 Irving St., Marinette, Wi. 54143.
