Patz had an initial appearance Monday, Feb. 22, and requested a preliminary hearing before Judge Michael Judge who set a cash bond of $25,000. He is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, no computers, no alcohol, no illegal drugs and paraphernalia conditions.
According to court records, he is charged with felony counts of human trafficking, second degree sex assault of an intoxicated victim, first degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation and false imprisonment, plus misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, in the Town of Brazeau he is alleged to engaged in human trafficking for the purpose of commercial sex act involving the female victim.
The complaint alleges he had sexual intercourse with the victim who was under the influence of an intoxicant and incapable of giving consent.
He is also alleged to have intentionally restrained the victim without her consent.
According to the complaint, Oconto Sheriff Department Deputy Ben Schindel on Feb. 7 was dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to St. Marys Hospital, Green Bay, in reference to a sexual assault.
Schindel made contact with the nurse and was informed the victim was in the emergency room as the result of ingesting a large amount of cocaine and alcohol and the victim of a possible sexual assault. The deputy took photos of red marks around the victims neck and shoulder along with clothing she was wearing and later placed them in the evidence locker of the sheriff department.
The deputy then interviewed the victim who reported that about 2 p.m. Feb. 7 she was picked up at her home by Patz whom she had known for a long time and had sexual intercourse with him in the past for drugs.
She further reported, according to the complaint, after being picked up they went to a Coleman gas station where Patz allegedly purchased alcohol and cigarettes. They then drove to his home on E. Rost Lake Road where they started to snort cocaine. After that she had seven shots of vodka and two beers and she was feeling high strung and weird.
They then went into a bedroom where Patz allegedly took out three neckties of which two were used to tie her ankles together and the other tied around her neck in a slipknot. They then engaged in sexual acts.
She further told the deputy, according to the complaint, because of the amount of cocaine and alcohol she had ingested, she was unable to tell Patz to stop and that some of the sexual things were too extreme.
Both then took a shower and she was driven home. She then told her father she needed to go to the hospital to be evaluated for intoxication.
