Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm is June 25th

Issue Date: June 21, 2017

The Marinette County Breakfast on the Farm is Sunday, June 25 at Golden Ridge Dairy in Crivitz from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The farm is located about two miles east of Highway 141 on East 18th Road.

The menu will include all you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausages, cheese curds, locally produced maple syrup, applesauce, milk, juice, coffee and ice cream sundaes.

For kids there will be a petting zoo, Moo-Mania comedy show, kiddie tractor pull, face painting, balloons, kids bouncy play area, airplane candy drop, music, wagon rides, and viewing of barns and cattle. Adults are $7, children ages 6-10 are $4, and those five and younger are free. Many area businesses help donate to the event to help offset the costs.

Proceeds from the event are reinvested into ag-related promotions in Marinette County throughout the year with youth. Over 100 volunteers are needed to feed the over 4,000 people in less than five hours. The Breakfast prides itself in little to no wait in the food lines for the breakfast.

Established in 2001, Golden Ridge Dairy LLC is owned by David and Sheila Denowski, along with their son, Chad and his wife, Kelly.

Their daughter, Tracy and her husband, Zach Zaidel are also actively involved on the farm. An oldest daughter, Michelle and her husband, Dale Konop work off the farm.

The Denowskis have two granddaughters, Gabby Konop and Isabella Denowski. David's parents, Ed and Estelle Denowski, purchased the original farm with 14 cows and 160 acres in 1950. Currently the herd consists of 700 milking cows and young stock, all of which are raised on the farm and bred 100 percent by artificial insemination.

Cows are milked three times daily in a double-12 parallel parlor with backflush system built in 2013. Eight full-time employees help with this and other farm chores. To feed the herd, the Denowski family harvests alfalfa, corn, corn silage and what on their land, of 750 acres owned and 1,400 rented. The family completes forage harvesting by working together with friends, extended family and neighbors.

Recent expansions to the dairy operation include a six-row freestall facility for housing young stock and milking cows in 2014 and a heated shop-machine shed completed in 2015. All milk is shipped to Land O'Lakes, Inc. of which the Denowski family has been a member since 1970.

Last year, the Breakfast on the Farm served over 4,000 people and used 200 gallons of ice cream, 3,000 chugs of chocolate milk, 1,000 chugs of white milk, 1,400 bottles of orange juice, 1,000 pounds of sausage, 1,500 pounds of eggs, 140 pounds of shredded cheese, 40 pounds of butter, 480 pounds of pancake batter mix, 30 gallons of maple syrup and 400 pounds of cheese curds.

If interest in being a volunteer call Corey Kuchta at 920-660-4182 or Scott Reuss at 715-732-7510.
