Robert E. Bryja
Robert E. Bryja, 68, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at home.
Born March 26, 1949 in Chicago, Ill., to Edward and Genieve (Piper) Bryja, he served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. On May 20, 1989, he married the former Mariellen Cavanaugh in Evergreen Park, Ill. and worked as a police sergeant at Evergreen Park Police Department in Illinois for many years.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and working outside. He was quiet, honest, articulate, thorough, fair and always lent a helping hand.
Survivors include his wife, Mariellen; his mother, Genieve Bryja; two daughters; five grandchildren; two sisters, Bonita Simon and Debbie (Thomas) Malkasain; a brother, James (Patricia) Bryja; an aunt, Garon Hamari; many nieces; nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Bryja and an uncle, Roy Hamari.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Kell Funeral Home in Menominee on Sunday, July 30 from 2 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 4 p.m., with Fr. Michael Ocran officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, Ill.
