Gilda Ann (Simon) Colamarino, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25 2017 in San Francisco, Ca. from complications of a heart attack.
Born in Marinette to Leonard and Sophie "Sip" Cohn Simon, she graduated from Marinette High School and earned a degree in Marketing at UW-Madison. She worked in the New York City garment district before moving to San Francisco.
She was married to Gianni Colamarino, originally from Torre del Greco, Italy for 58 years. They loved cooking and she was a welcoming, generous hostess that made good desserts for those lucky enough to be invited to their table.
She loved her family and friends and was a second mother to many of her children's friends. An avid reader, she enjoyed books, was a sports fan and loved watching basketball and football games with family. Funny and independent, she was happiest being in the sun, walking the neighborhood, traveling with her daughter and visiting Europe each summer to spend time with her son.
She is survived by her husband, Gianni; a son, Palmer of Brussels, Belgium; a daughter, Sophia of San Francisco; a brother, Dr. J. Richard "Dick" Simon of Iowa City, Ia., who has since passed away on May 3, 2017 and many relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Owen "Bud" Simon of Naples, Fla.
