Lois Mae (Leiberg) Vander Zanden, 95, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at New Perspective Senior Living.
Born Dec. 19, 1921, to the late Matt and Ruth (Heigel) Leiberg, she was raised in Oakfield and earned both bachelor and master degrees in Psychology at UW-Madison. In 1946, she married Norbert L. VanderZanden and lived in Green Bay.
She worked as a tutor in her home while raising her family, assisting children and adults with special needs. A past member of Oneida Country Club and Coterie Dance Club, she also played bridge until shortly before her death.
An avid dog lover, she raised three West Highland Terriers over the years. She was a past member of St. Matthews and Resurrection parishes in Green Bay. Some of her favorite times were at her second home in DeLand, Fla.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sally, Menominee, Mi. and Jeffrey and Barbara, Green Bay; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers-in-law, Tom (Marlene) VanderZanden and Larry DeGroot and a sister-in-law Marilyn Mackin.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert in 2002 and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Janet VanderZanden, John VanderZanden, Jeanne DeGroot and Mary Fran VanderZanden.
Visitation will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay on Friday, Aug. 4 from 9:30 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements. Donations can be made to Unity Hospice or the Bay Area Humane Society.
