Eugenie "Genie" E. (Schwartz) Johnson, 81, of Pound, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017.
Born July 9, 1936 in Coleman, to the late Walter "Toby" and Ruth (Kriedeman) Schwartz, her mother passed away at a young age and her father then married Leah Peterson, whom she regarded as "Mom."
She married Kenneth Johnson on June 20, 1959 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Coleman. She attended Marinette County Teachers College and taught at many public schools in the local district and also taught Sunday school at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Coleman for 25 years.
She enjoyed gardening, crafting, baking, traveling and was an avid family historian and storyteller.
Surviving are a daughter, Heidi (Bill) Gossen, Menasha; three grandchildren, all of Menasha; brothers and sisters, Craig (Margaret) Schwartz, Tucson, Az., Lorna Welty and Nathan (MaryJane) Schwartz, both of Green Bay and Mavis Schwartz, Minneapolis, Mn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; a son, Todd and a brother, Kevin Schwartz.
Relatives and friends called at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Coleman on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. until time of a Celebration of Life at noon, with Pastor Stahlecker officiating. Burial was in Beaver American Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial fund was established.
