Athelstane"The regular monthly meeting of the Athelstane Town Board was held Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall with chairman John Dobratz presiding. All officers were present along with nine people in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The agenda was approved.
Greg Reinhardt speaking on behalf of the Glen Lake Association asked what needed to be done to address the condition of the boat landing, specifically a complaint of a property owner where the boat landing road is washing down into his property, covering up his drain field and water running into his house. Public Works personnel will work with the DNR to resolve this issue.
The minutes were approved as presented and all bills were ordered paid.
Dobratz said the compactors will be installed at the Recycling Center on Monday, Sept. 18.
Fire Chief Scott Durian said the fire department had one meeting, two training meetings, and one mutual aid call with Stephenson. Pumper tests were done and both passed.
The Plan Commission report given by David Jose noted they met on Sept. 5 with four members present and discussed Ordinance #19. Next meeting is Monday, Oct. 2.
Clerk DuChateau gave the treasurer's report which showed July 31 balance of $438,045.20, receipts to number 966 $62,099.25, and disbursements of $34,173.89, for a total ending Aug. 31 $465,970.56.
Checking was $8,415.65, Tax Money Market $179,164.93, General Money Market $162,755.79, and Certificate of Deposit $115,634.19 for a $465,970.56 total.
Public Works employee, Kelly LaCount, reported Davis Road is finished and work will progress on Eagle River Road and Tower Road with Silver Cliff. Fire Chief Durian mentioned Benson Lake Road was seal coated and they will be touching up Benson Lake Road and Firelane Road with limestone.
An amendment to Ordinance #11-Private Road Designs " to add Section 3 - Maintenance has exception-snowplowing of private roads will be allowed pursuant to a signed snowplow contract currently in effect.
Also adopted was an amendment to Ordinance #12 " Private Driveway Standards " to add Section 5. Snowplowing of private driveways will be allowed pursuant to a signed snowplow contract currently in effect. No custom plowing will be allowed.
Marinette County will collect taxes. Treasurer Reinhardt mentioned he spoke with a rep at SNBT regarding CD interest rates and the ability to receive e-statements.
"Tiny Houses" were discussed and several have been found set up in the town. They are in violation of town ordinances because they do not meet the minimum square footage requirement and building permits were not obtained. Violation letters will be sent out.
