THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Martin "Marty Junior" Vieth, 89, of Marinette, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 surrounded by family after a battle with multiple illnesses of heart disease, stroke and advancing age.
Born March 22, 1928 in Marinette, to the late Martin E. Sr. and Carol Vieth, he and his wife, the former Jean Schroeder, raised three children in a house along the Menominee River that he and his father-in-law built in 1956.
A lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marinette, he was baptized, confirmed and married there. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, deer camp, walleye and perch fishing, the Packers and arm chair coaching. He touched many lives in his 89 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean; a daughter Holly D. (Mark) Brunner; two sons, David M. (Jane) Vieth and Kevin C. (Julie) Vieth; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Warman of Marinette; nephews; nieces; friends and acquaintances.
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Marinette on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 11:30 a.m. until time of the services at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jon Tesch. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette followed by a luncheon at the church. Memorials are appreciated for Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and School in Marinette. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
