Town Of Wausaukee Sets Budget Hearing Nov. 14

Wausaukee Town Board will hold a budget workshop at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in preparation for the Public Hearing and Annual Town Meeting at the Town Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, following the 6 p.m. regular monthly board meeting.
At the regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10 the board heard a report from Town Chair Jeff Engelmann on the Fire Department truck and final costs. Board members received copies of the Fire District quarterly report.
Sandy Wojcik and Betty Figas spoke about the "Back to School Program", explaining the original intent of program and how successful it has become by helping students to prepare for the school year ahead. They are requesting a donation from the Town of Wausaukee, which the town board will consider when planning 2018 budget.
George Kloppenburg spoke about his concerns that Marinette County is currently discussing the concept of allowing ATVs on county roads. He expressed his concerns and Board of supervisors gave their input.
Town Assessor Jerry Pillath reported on the Wisconsin Department of Revenue 2016 Major Class Comparisons along with 2017 changes in Equalized Values for the town. The board reviewed extension of his contract for tax years 2018 through 2020 Assessing. Supervisor Bob Jicha moved to extend the contract with Jerry Pillath for tax years 2018 through 2020, with a second from Dennis Taylor. Engelmann voted in favor and Supervisor David Tomasino abstained. Supervisor Kurt Stumbris was absent.
The board took no action on proposed riprap.
The board approved a request for permission to allow "Fireworks Show" on Sunday, Dec. 31, New Year's Eve. Engelmann had no objections. The local Fire Department is to be notified of when and where the fireworks will take place.
An operator's license was approved for Rebecca Whitton.
Financial report showed as of Saturday, Sept. 30 the town had a balance of $21,163.38 in general checking and $ 311,470.93 in the Money market MM General Account.
Present for the meeting in addition to board members Jicha, Tomasino, Taylor, Jicha and Chair Engelmann were Treasurer Sally Hultquist,Clerk Cheryl Stumbris, Bob Wesolowski, Chopper Dunlap, James Pociask, Pillath, Supervisor Kloppenburg, Betty Figas and Sandy Wojcik.
