Auxiliary Unit 66 Meeting Nov. 4th

The Athelstane/Silver Cliff American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 met on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Silver Cliff Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by President Dee Farley. All officers were present with one guest, Carol Bub. Treasurer Priscilla Maeder gave her report which was put on file for audit. Checks were reviewed for the proceeds from the 2017 Chili Fest. The final 2018 Budget will be presented at the January meeting. Secretary Mary Deprey's report was put on file. The 2018 membership dues collected so far are 33 Seniors and 5 Juniors for a total of 38.
Communications were read from the 9th District Newsletter and the Department of Wisconsin. The 2018 Badger Boy/Girl Presentation for Wausaukee High School Juniors will be Nov. 16 with 2017 Badger Girl and Unit 66 Junior Member Alee Aragon as one of the presenters.
In other business, the 2017 Deer Hunters bake sale will start at 3 PM on Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Fire Lane Bar. Unit 66 members can take their items to be sold at 2 PM. It is not necessary to pre-price any items. Bake sale Chairmen are Barb Van Boxtel and Karen Ladd.
An Initiation Ceremony was held for members who have not been initiated. This ceremony is done on an annual basis. Installation of the following Unit 66 Officers was held as well; Secretary Mary Deprey, Vice President Cassie Meyers and Chaplain Jan Meyer.
Immediately following the meeting a Veterans Day Dinner for Post 66 members was held. Many post members brought service memorabilia to display. Post 66 member Mike Zindar brought along detailed information about the iconic Viet Nam Wall and other information from that time period.
All Post/Unit 66 members should send their replies for the Christmas Dinner at the Woods on Dec. 2. Unit 66 member Carrie Willems volunteered to work at the reception table for the dinner. The next regular Unit 66 meeting will be at 10 AM on Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Silver Cliff Town Hall.
