John A. Wilson, 89, of Gillett, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017.
Born Aug. 28, 1928 in the Town of Angelica, to Harold and Irene (Van Ess) Wilson, at the age of four years old, he moved with his family to the Long Lake area before settling in Gillett in 1944. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War from 1950-1952.
On Dec. 10, 1955, he married Ellen Anderson and they farmed in the Town of Maple Valley for many years. He also worked at the Suring Coop for 15 years before moving into the City of Gillett. He was a member of Riverview Alliance Church in Oconto Falls.
Survivors include two children, Randy (Jan) Wilson, Appleton and Renee (Keith) Bentley, Midland, MIi.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Wesley) Sosinski, Oconto and many nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen in 2010; two brothers, Alvie (Jean) and Lloyd (Holly) Wilson; two sisters, Ione (Clarence) Peters and an infant sister and a brother-in-law, Hugo Delzer.
Visitation was held at Riverview Alliance Church on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 5 p.m. Pastor Kevin Kuhn officiated with burial in Wanderers Rest Cemetery in Gillett. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
