Ralph Emmes, 93, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1924 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Albert and Mary (Doubek) Emmes, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. On Aug. 16, 1947, he married LaVerne Dionne in Menominee and she preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2016.
He worked as a Millwright Mechanic at Menominee Paper. A member of Resurrection Parish and the VFW, he enjoyed gardening and making model airplanes.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan (Tom) Wozniczka of New London; three sons, Roy (Cindy) of Menominee, Wayne (Carol) and Craig (LuAnn) of Marinette; a daughter-in-law, Denise Emmes of Menominee; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne; a son, Larry; two brothers and a sister.
Visitation was held at Anderson Kell Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. until time of a Vigil Prayer Service at 6 p.m., with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Resurrection Parish on Friday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. Fr. McQuesten presided followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
