Joette Margrett (Atkinson) Mathey, 59, of Crivitz, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 with loved ones by her side after a 25 year fight with cancer.
Born Sept. 21, 1958, to the late Fernnen (Vern) and Mildred (Millie Michaels) Atkinson, she graduated from Bay Port High School in June 1978 and married Jack Mathey in 2006.
She had a big heart, loved everyone and had many talents, sewing being her latest and sewed something for all those she knew. She worked shrimping in the gulf and at Piggly Wiggly, her favorite, because she loved the people. She loved all her pets from chickens to peacocks and raccoons.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; a stepson, Josh (Erin) Mathey; a step-daughter, Jeni (Adam) Olson; four step-grandchildren; siblings, LuAnn Brunette, Kenny Atkinson and Lorraine (Jerry) Severa; nieces; nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Alsteen and Mario Green and close friends, Sandy and Dale.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; grandparents; aunts; an uncle and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the home of her sister, 4017 Bayside Road, Suamico. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Pfotenhauer Funeral Home of Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.
