Dorothy V. (Williams) Wells-Boye, 93, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 after a long illness at her home with family by her side.
Born Feb. 7, 1924 in Daggett, Mi., to Phillip and Pearl Williams, her parents died at a young age and she was left to care for several younger siblings at age 16. On Nov. 13, 1949, she married Walter E. Wells, Sr. and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1974.
They shared 25 years of marriage and raised five children. A few years later, she married Walter Boye and he also preceded her in death.
She was proud of being a homemaker and caring for her family. She enjoyed lilacs, cooking, baking and the sun.
She is survived by four children, Walter Wells, Jr. of Powers, Darlene (Robert) Hallinen of Anchorage, Ak., Gloria (Carl) Williams of Bark River, Mi. and Cheryl Wells of Escanaba, Mi.; a son-in-law, Rodney Williams of Bark River; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; fout great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Williams of Cedar River, Mi.; two sisters, Ann Crawford of Stephenson and Phyllis Hultman of Marinette; a sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Hannahville, Mi. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Wells, Sr.; second husband, Walter Boye; a daughter, Pamela Williams; four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation was held at Lakeside Christian Church in Escanaba on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral services at noon. Pastor Mark Highum officiated followed by a luncheon at the Church. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in the Spring. Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba assisted the family with arrangements.
