Rosalyn "Roz" (Fabry) Gilles, 71, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at home with family by her side after a courageous battle with heart disease
Born July 19, 1946 in Oconto Falls, to John and Veteline Fabry, she graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1964 and then attended beauty school. She owned and operated salons in Green Bay and Lena. On April 27, 1968, she married Leo Gilles. Her husband with her ashes, this year will celebrate their 50th anniversary with their family.
They were dairy farmers most of their lives, owning farms in Lena and Little River. After selling the Oconto homestead in 1994, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and the rest of her days she cared for others.
Active in the local Catholic community, she supported the Little River Volunteer Fire Department and 4-H Club.
She is survived by her husband, Leo; four children, Christina (Paul) Meyer, John "Jay' Joseph (Fiancé, Jolita Katlauskaite) Gilles, Sara (Shane) Copel and Renee (Eric Blaies) Gilles; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Marie (Johnny) Slempkes; two brothers, Lloyd (Claire) Fabry and Willie (Donna) Fabry; a brother-in-law, Fred Koltz; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruthie and Gale Schneider and a sister, Esther Snyder-Koltz.
Friends may call at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Robert Karuhn will officiate with burial in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Lena. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Oconto is assisting the family with arrangements.
