Issue Date: January 10, 2018
Louis Erick Giese, 82, of Hermansville, Mi., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
Born Oct. 21, 1935 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Louis and Gertrude (Salewsky) Giese, he attended Howe School for the Deaf in Green Bay for many years and also Menominee High School. Proud of his first job at Lauerman Brothers Department Store in Marinette, he later became a band saw operator at St. Onge Wood Products, now Les Brown Chair Company in Hermansville, where he retired from. He was also the custodian at First United Methodist Church in Hermansville.
He married Susan Dobbertin on Nov. 30, 1962 in Menominee and they later moved to Hermansville, Mi. where they raised four children. Everything had to be perfect and he spent many hours on his yard, garden, flowers and woodworking projects and never slowed down. He enjoyed time at "camp" where he could take in God's beauty, a roaring campfire, a dip of Copenhagen and a cold Bud Light.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; four children, Roberta Chevalier, Green Bay, Jennifer (Joe) Beaster, Kaukauna, Richard Giese, Kaukauna and Brenda Giese, Quincy, Fla.; a sister, Ellen (Gene) Kaempf, Peshtigo; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Claire and Marion and a nephew, John.
Memories were exchanged at First United Methodist Church in Hermansville on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. until time of the Memorial Service at noon. Valley Funeral Home of Appleton assisted the family with arrangements.
