Leo "JR" Francis Schmidt, 70, of Wallace, Mi., passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at home.
Born Sept. 11, 1947 in Greenwoods, Mi., to the late Leo and Jessie (Duclon) Schmidt, he served in the United States Army and worked for the United States Postal Service in Milwaukee for 38 years.
He retired to the Greenwoods area and remodeled the family home where he enjoyed the outdoors, especially watching the deer. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Schmidt of Wallace, Mi., Irene Dishneau of Stephenson, Mi. and Regina Newlin of Port Washington and nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Richard, Clarice, Joseph, Wayne, Wes, August and Carol.
Family will receive friends at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Birch Creek on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 from 2 p.m. until time of a Funeral Mass at 4 p.m., with Fr. Michael Ocran officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Birch Creek Cemetery in the Spring. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements.
