Ervin J. Wery, 86, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.
Born Aug. 2, 1931 in Stephenson, to the late Frank and Delia (Lemerande) Wery, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 24, 1954, he married the former Rita Kline at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson.
He worked at Rustic Fence Company, farmed with his brother and retired from Marinette Marine in 1996 after 32 years.
He enjoyed baking, reading, story telling, gardening, hunting with his boys and their friends, making maple syrup and tinkering with antique tractors. He was a lifelong member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rita of Stephenson; six children, Janice (John) Thoune, Allen (Kelly) and Beth (John) Solander, all of Stephenson, David (Janet) of Daggett, Mi., Marianne (David) Broberg of Germantown and Phil (Kristle) of Menominee; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ashley; three sisters and three brothers.
Family will receive friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Friday, Feb. 23 from 3 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 5:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson at 6 p.m., with Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery in the Spring.
