Marjorie L. Curran, 78, of Green Bay, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Bellin Hospital.
Born March 4, 1940 in Hermansville, Mi., to Harold and Ethel Allen, she grew up in Hermansville on the family farm and graduated from Hermansville High School in 1957.
She married Grant E. Curran on Sept. 19, 1959 in Hermansville and they were married 58 years this past September. They began their life in Marquette Mi., where they had two children, Pam and Alan. They lived there until 1967, when he was transferred to Green Bay where they were had their last child, Michelle.
She began working as a Crossing Guard for the Green Bay Police Department in 1971 and retired in 2013 after 42 years of service, at both Jackson and Kennedy Elementary Schools. She loved training the kids to work with her as her patrols.
She was influential in visiting with the students in the school creating awareness of crossing and traffic safety. An honorable member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union, she also was active at St. Paul's United Methodist Church as a member of the Women's UMW and the Ruth Circle. Always willing to help, she had many years of friendship through activities such as Pasty Bakes, Lumberjack Dinners, weekly bulletins and many events within the church.
She enjoyed swimming at the CP Center, musical and sporting events of her grandchildren, loved sports, was an avid Packer fan, attended Packer games with close friends, loved the Badgers and March Madness, but mostly, time with family, weekly breakfast with her sister, Ione (Oney) and sister-in-law Elaine, and serving meals at the Homeless Shelter on a monthly basis.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Grant; three children, Pamela (Dennis) Miller, Alan (special friend Brenda Kleiman) and Michelle (Scott) Feuerstein; three grandchildren; a brother, Hugh E. Allen, Sun City Centre, Fla. and two sisters, Gail Bantes, Peshtigo and Ione (Oney) Vicenzi, Green Bay.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Raymond and Lois Curran; a brother, William (Bill) Allen; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Dallaire; three brothers-in-law, Harold Meiner, Richard (Dick) Bantes and Victor Dallaire and a nephew, Scott H. Allen.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson Ave., Green Bay on Thursday, March 15 from 3 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 4:30 p.m.
