Dolores M. (Heling-Schmidt) Neuwirth, 96, of the Cottages at Meadowlands in Oconto Falls, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away early Thursday morning, March 15, 2018 at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls.
Born July 26, 1921 in Sheboygan, to the late Gustave and Wilma (Mueller) Heling, she graduated from Central High School in 1939.
She married John Schmidt on Aug. 5, 1939 in Sheboygan and he preceded her in death in 1967. They had two children, Janice and Barbara. After his death, she married Al Neuwirth in 1969 and he also preceded her in death.
A caring person, she was always there for her children and loved spending time with family and grandchildren. She enjoyed all sports, especially swimming, being outdoors, cards, listening to music, dancing, especially to polkas and having people around her.
A wife and mother, she worked for a short time at GNC at the Memorial Mall in Sheboygan and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Larry) McGray of Lena and Barbara (Harvey) Wolfert of Howards Grove; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by both husbands, John Schmidt and Al Neuwirth; two sisters, Betty Ubbelohde and Jeanette Gruenke and a brother, Harvey Themar.
Visitation was held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on Monday, March 19 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jim Schulz Officiating. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials are appreciated to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
