Lawrence J. Block, 78, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Sept. 18, 1939, to the late Alfred and Florence (Leannah) Block in Marinette, he graduated from Marinette High School in 1959 and worked at My Laundry for the Menominee Hospital and then at LE Jones for over 30 years, retiring in 2005.
He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, going around town on his scooter and watching the Green Bay Packers, but mostly cook-outs and gatherings with his family. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Menominee.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Kevin) Gabriel; three sons, Joseph (Ann) Block and Greg Block, both of Marinette and Wayne Block of Menominee; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Dusty) Block of San Diego, Ca.; a sister, Ruth Hill of Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Glen Squires and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Gabriel; two sisters, Judy Beyer and Verna Squires; a brother, George "Sunny" (Sally) Block and a niece, Bonnie Squires.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Wednesday, April 11 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral services at 4 p.m., with Pastor Jon Nelson officiating. Please wear Packer attire. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
