Janice A. (Cady) Minecke, 92, of Green Bay, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018.
Born Nov. 27, 1925 in Goodman, to Louis and Pearl (MacDonald) Cady, she graduated from Goodman High School and became a Sister in the Order of the Daughters of Charity, earning degrees in nursing and midwifery.
She worked in mission areas in southern Texas and New Mexico delivering many of babies. Upon leaving the convent, she continued her nursing career at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. In 1973, she married Ernest Minecke in Green Bay and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2006, after 33 years of marriage.
She was An active member of St. Willebrord Parish for many years, she loved golfing and reading, but most of all her faith in God.
She is survived by many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; very close friends, Dr. Jules and Julie Blank and their children, Andrea, Jackie and Robbie and sisters-in-law, Erna Cady, Rita Houston, Rose Mianecki, Marge Zdziarski and Ellie (Bob) Vankauwenberg.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; siblings, Verna Mae (John) Guay, Elmer Cady, Louis Cady, Laurella (Bob) Micksch and Donna Mae (George) Van Boxel and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean (Richard) Mikulsky, Kenneth Houston, Richard "Butch" Mianecki and Casey Zdziarski.
Friends may call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St. on Thursday, April 19 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with Rev. Andrew G. Cribben O.Praem officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in her name to benefit Green Bay Area Catholic Education (GRACE).
