Gerald "Jerry" Bero, 90, passed away Monday, May 7 with family by his side.
Born April 18, 1928, in Menominee, Mi., to the late William J. and Florence (Beland) Bero, he married Alice H. Peterson on June 2, 1950.
After high school, he served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948 and the Naval Reserves from 1948-1953. He co-founded Packerland Business Equipment Corporation with Al Davitt in 1962 where he worked until his retiring in 2006.
An avid Packer Fan, he attended the Ice Bowl and was a golfer, bowler, swimmer and card and dice player. He enjoyed his trailer and friends in Gresham for over 40 years, but especially family vacations in Vilas County. He also enjoyed socializing at Simonets, Krolls, Maricques, Gippers and Chambers Hill, but what he loved most was his wife Alice. He is known for his work ethic, sense of humor and faithfulness.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; three children, Gloria Bero, Scott (Karen) Bero and Penny (David) Duggan; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William J. "Bill" Bero Jr.
Friends may call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams Street, Green Bay on Thursday, May 10 from 3 p.m. until time of the Funeral Liturgy at 5 p.m., with Fr. Andy Cribben officiating. Entombment will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay. A memorial fund has been established to benefit Jerry Parins "Cruise for Cancer". Newcomer Funeral Home, Green Bay Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
