Cougars Lead M&O in Final Week; Cavvies Still in Championship Hunt

Issue Date: May 17, 2018

Niagara Takes Win Over Crivitz

The Crivitz Wolverines were taken down by the Niagara Badgers Thursday night in Crivitz 11-2.

Niagara got things going straight from the start.

Posting three runs over the first and four more over the second gave the Badgers a 8-0 lead which the Wolverines were unable to over come.

Crivitz was able to muster a Jaz Zack run off a Brook McFadden RBI in the first while Saige Nelson crossed home in the third thanks to an Emily Bublitz single.

At the plate the Wolverines were led by Nelson with a two of three showing with one run.

Allison Wells led the Badgers with a two of three showing with one run and one RBI. Abigail McCarthy and Maki both posted two of four performances with two runs each.

The loss was taken by Wolverine Sarah Bublitz allowing 11 hits, 12 runs and five walks while striking out one.

The win was taken by Payette with three strike outs. She allowed six hits, two runs and two walks.

Crivitz Bags Win Over Goodman-Pembine

The Crivitz Wolverines got a much needed shot of confidence Friday night when they took down the visiting Goodman-Pembine Patriots 2-1.

The game went scoreless over most of regulation with the Wolverines taking the lead in the final inning.

In the seventh inning Emily Bublitz led off with a single followed by Sarah Bublitz with another single. Brook McFadden brought in Emily off a single while Sarah was brought home with a Maggie Swanson single for the win.

At the plate Crivitz's Emily Bublitz was three of three with one run while Swanson posted a two of three day at the plate.

Hornets Survive Elcho in Slugfest

The Gillett/Suring Hornets survived a 15-14 final verdict with the Elcho Hornets Saturday afternoon in Elcho.

Elcho held the led exiting the first inning 5-2 and kept that leads over the third 8-6.

Starting in the top of the fourth the Gillett/Suring girls began to turn things around posting five while holding Elcho to one run in the bottom of the inning. Thanks to two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth the G/S girls had just enough to bag the win after holding the Elcho girls to two runs in the final frame.

Taking the pitching win was Faith Sorlie who allowed 14 hits, 14 runs (10 earned) and three walks while striking out three.

A. Schiling took the loss giving up six hits, 11 earned runs and 10 walks.

At the plate G/S was led by Sydney Young who went three of five with three runs and one RBI

Coleman Secures Victory over Gillett/Suring

It was a lopsided match to say the least in Coleman Monday night when the out of town Gillett/Suring girls found out they were a little farther from home than first though as the Cougars blew the Hornets out of the county 14-0.

Coleman started the warm up over the second inning with three runs scored and added to it over the next inning with two more runs.

A nine run fourth and still no answers from the Hornets was about all this game could handle as the umps called quits after five due to the more than ten point differential.

Coleman's Zeitler bagged three hits while Beth Gannigan and Kyla Manning both obtained two. Zeitler piled up four RBIs while brannigan stacked up two.

Annabelle Kotecki took the pitching win over five innings with four strikeouts and 11 first pitch strikes. Sydney Young took the loss with two strikeouts and 24 first pitch strikes.

Coleman Sends Menominee Flying

The Coleman Cougars had no issue in their 12-0 win over the hosting Menmoninee Maroon softball team Tuesday night.

All of Coleman's runs, and in fact every run of the game occurred in the bottom of the fourth when the Cougars went wild for 12 runs, enough for the win and early ending.

Beta Ganningan, Hoida and Annebelle Kotecki all posted two hits on the day while Cameron Compe blasted in three runs for RBIs. Kotecki and kailey Klimek both had two RBIS.

Kotecki pitched five innings and got the win with five strikeouts and nine first pitch strikes.

Crivitz takes Non Conference Win Over Stephenson

The Stephenson Eagles hosted the Crivitz Wolverines Tuesday night and were taking down by the invading Wolverines 15-8.

The Wolverines wasted no time in building a nice lead. During the first Jaz Zak blasted a two RBI double, helping to give Crivitz the early 5-0 lead. The Eagles tied it up 5-5 over the fourth before the Wolverine bats found an opening in the fifth which they exploited for five more scores. Four more to close the seventh gave the Wolverines their 15 point readout.

At the plate the Wolverines' Riley Mueller was four of five with three runs. Saige Nelson was two of five with two runs while Jaz Zak ended the evening three of five with three runs and three RBIs.

Sarah Bublitz took the win with eight "K's" to her name. She allowed nine hits, eight runs and three walks.

Marinette Sweeps Doubleheader From Wrightstown

The Marinette bats got hot in a doubleheader sweep of Wrightstown on Tuesday, as they won the two games with a total of 31 runs on the night.

In game one, Marinette's Syd Nemetz shut down the opposition, allowing just three hits over seven innings, striking out three.

She also went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Matt Renikow and McKenzie Bebo each had two hits apiece, with five combined RBIs.

Nemetz got the win in game two as well, though she wasn't as untouchable as game one. She allowed eight runs on 12 hits, striking out three.

Bebo tripled twice in the second game, as Marinette's bats carried them four innings of at least four runs, including a six-run sixth. Renikow again had two hits and two RBIs, as did Tatum Ihde.

Bulldogs Bats Decide Doubleheader with Gibraltar

Peshtigo dominated a doubleheader with Gibraltar on Tuesday, tallying 26 runs on the night.

Peshtigo won the first game 16-4, belting six doubles and ending the game in five innings.

Shae Tonn reached on an error to start the game for the Bulldogs, stealing a base and coming around to score, with Olivia Lewis making the game 2-0 after one on a run and RBI from Kennedy Chmela.

Tonn and Lewis scored their second runs each in the second inning. Each scored three runs in the game.

Madi Martin and Mattie Lacoursiere each scored runs in the second inning and McKenna Evancheck scored in the third.

The fourth inning was when the Bulldogs really blew the game wide open, however. The Bulldogs scored nine runs in the inning to seal the game's end.

Lewis, Lexy DeBriyn, Grace Wickman, Chmela, Emma Frederickson, Martin and Evancheck each had two RBIs in the game.

In addition to Tonn and Lewis having three runs each, Wickman, Evancheck and Martin scored two runs each.

The Bulldogs kept the momentum going in the second game, with six runs in the first inning.

Tonn, DeBriyn, Wickman, Chmela, Frederickson and Lacoursiere each scored runs in the first, as the Bulldogs ran away with a 10-1 win.

Lacoursiere scored three runs in the game to lead the Bulldogs. She stole a whopping six bases in the game, with the Bulldogs running wild on the basepaths. They stole 11 as a team.

Menominee Splits Two with Kingsford

Menominee and Kingsford split a doubleheader Friday, May 11 with a Maroon walkoff in the first game.

Menominee and Kingsford battled in the first game, with Menominee coming back from 5-0 to tie the game at six. After Kingsford took the lead in the top of seven, Menominee put two on the board in the seventh to take game one.

Emma Anderson, Ely Wellner and Karley Plutchak had two hits apiece. Anderson added a run and RBI, while Plutchak had two runs. Bri Burnett tripled and scored.

Anderson had the game-winning hit, which scored Izzy Berger.

Sarah Barrette got the win, going seven innings and striking out six. She allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks.

In game two, Anderson and Burnette had two hits each, but Menominee couldn't quite get the bats going after the second inning, when they scored all three of their runs in the 11-3 defeat.

Barrette took the loss in game two, allowing three runs in her one inning.
