Dorothy Mary (Majkrzak) Duda, 92, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at her son Marty's home in Chicago, Ill.
Born June 12, 1925 in Lake Township, to the late Martin and Regina (Preszala) Majkrzak, she married Peter Duda in 1950 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1990.
She enjoyed gardening, cards, listening to polka and country music, polka dancing and going to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores. She loved and kept holiday traditions of making beet horseradish at Easter, coloring eggs, making Easter baskets for her grandchildren and would say "you're never too old to get an Easter basket from Grandma".
She also loved to laugh, roosters, Model T and horse and buggy rides from relatives, cooking and feeding whoever visited and they never left hungry or thirsty. A member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, her family was her passion, especially her grandchildren and time they spent together.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary K. (John) Nuno of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Martin "Marty" Duda of Chicago, Ill. and Lawrence "Larry" of River Grove, Ill.; three grandchildren; a sister, Angie (Blackie) Hood of Stephenson, Mi.; nieces; nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sophie Kalemba, Josie Kozil, Ann Marszolek and Stella Loskot and four brothers, Walter, Joseph, Frank and Mike Majkrzak.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson from 4 p.m. until time of a Vigil Prayer Service at 6 p.m. with Deacon Tom Rivard officiating. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 25, at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Precious Blood Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Fr. Michael Ocran will officiate with burial in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
