Russell "Russ" Lynn Schwartz, 71, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 after a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 20, 1946 in Marinette County, to Bernard and Elva Schwartz, he was baptized at St. James English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marinette on April 21, 1948. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969, mostly stationed at the Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Tx., where he serviced crew oxygen and rigged pilot ejection seats.
He married Shirley (Schroeder) of Bishop, Tx. in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 1991. In recent years, he enjoyed time with Barb Gromala and many other good friends.
He made his home in Bishop, Tx. until returning to Wisconsin in 1994.
While in Bishop, he was an active member at St. John Lutheran Church and was a leader in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
He had three sons, Chris (Ronda Brillhart) of Peachtree City, Ga., Mark (Jacqueline Hutton) of Kingsville, Tx. and Todd (Sean Ringey) of Cincinnati, Oh. and a granddaughter, Evelyn Schwartz of Peachtree City, Ga.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette on Thursday, June 7 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Laatsch and the Military 20 Year Club. Donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
