A retirement ceremony to honor the service of Chief Hull Maintenance Technician Aaron Dion Manske, United States Navy, was held Friday, June 29 at Naval Stations Great Lakes Beach House at Nunn Beach.
Chief Petty Officer Aaron Manske was born in Marinette and graduated from Coleman High School in 1994. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1998.
Schedule of Events at the Retirement Ceremony included arrival of official party, Parading of Colors-RTC CPOA Color Guard, Invocation by Lt. Eric Brown; guest speaker remarks by Chief Warrant Officer William Gregory, award and presentation by LCDR Shane Cook, Farewell Remarks by Chief Aaron Manske, Chief's Retirement Creed by Justin Light, Olde Glory by Chief William Stanford, The Watch by Chief Joseph Christensen, The Wife's Watch by Chief Amanda Ibalio, and Benediction by Lt. Eric Brown.
Chief Manske received Recruit Training, Hull Maintenance Technician "A" school training, and Advanced Welding "C" school training at Great Lakes, IL. His first duty assignment was aboard USS Frank Cable where he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class in 2001.
Other assignments include Trident Training Facility where he attended Advanced Welder "C" school, Intermediate Maintenance Facility, USS Frank Cable where he advanced to Petty Officer First Class in 2007 and received his Surface Warfare Specialist Qualification, USS Abraham Lincoln where he advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2010 and received his Air Warfare Specialist Qualification, attended Material Maintenance Management school, and Mobile Diving Salvage Unit One where he received his Expeditionary Warfare Specialist Qualification.
Chief Manske trained for Basic Swimming and Water Survival Instructor Training and attended Navy Instructor Training before checking in at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL where he is now serving as a water survival instructor.
His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards), Battle "E" Award (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (five awards), National Defense Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Overseas Sea Service ribbon (seven), Navy Expert Rifle Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Medal.
Chief Manske's tours of duty include USS Frank Cable (AS-40) Dec. 1998-Dec. 2001; NIMF PACNORWEST May 2002-Dec. 2006; USS Frank Cable (AS-40) Dec. 2006-Dec. 2009; USS Lincoln (CVN-72) Jan. 2010-Feb. 2012; Mobile Dive Salvage Unit One Mar. 2012-Sept. 2015; and Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes Nov. 2015-present.
