Elmer Ellis, 90, passed away peacefully at the Renaissance Assisted Living facility in Marinette on July 22, 2018.
He was born on June 14, 1928 to Clarence and Signora Ellis. Elmer resided in the Marinette area all of his life. He graduated from Marinette High School and went on to serve his country in the Korean War.
On June 13, 1959, Elmer and Mary Jane Schiner were united in marriage. After more than 53 years together, she preceded him in death on December 11, 2012.
Elmer's career started in the family poultry business. He then went on to own and operate several local veal farms. He was also involved in real estate by building and owning several rental properties within the area.
Upon retirement, Elmer and Mary Jane led a full life that included extensive travels. Elmer had a strong connection with family and his faith. He was a very active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marinette.
Elmer is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters in addition to his wife.
Friends may call at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1501 Thomas St., Marinette on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. until noon. Services will be at 12 noon with the Reverend Jon Tesch officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for the MJ School Fund at Trinity Lutheran School.
