Night Out Fun-The City of Marinette's annual National Night Out on Stephenson Island was another success according to organizers. Food booths were busy feeding the several hundred people that attended as well as the many displays of emergency equipment and vendors that were present. Marinette National Night Out Enjoyed By Many

The City of Marinette's National Night Out was held Tuesday, Aug. 7 on Stephenson Island from 4 to 8 p.m. Many displays were available including Enstrom Helicopter, Emergency vehicles, informational displays, K-9 demonstrations, Fire Safety House, DAR Boys & Girls Club Duck Race, air jumper, slide games, food, prizes, water-ball tournament for ages 8-14 and children 12 and under had a chance to win a bike.
There were 30 kids who participated in the water-ball tournament which was run by the Marinette Fire Department.
National Night Out was sponsored the The Crime Prevention Unit of the Marinette Police Department.
National Night Out has been held nationwide since 1984, and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. National Night Out began simply with neighbors turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much more. The annual event in the City of Marinette draws hundreds of people to Stephenson Island.
