Mary A. (Bourassa) Slempkes, 82, of Lena, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018.
Born Oct. 7, 1935 in Oconto, to the late Ernest and Ellen (Dagen) Bourassa, she married Edward Slempkes on Jan. 29, 1955 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oconto and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2012.
They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Lena for many years and she also worked in the soldering department at Coleman Products for 17 years, until the plant closed.
She enjoyed word searches, reading and bird watching. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena, she supported her family and friends through prayer.
Surviving are five children, Linda (Tom) Blazek, Suring, Cindy (Mike) Trepanier and Julie (Jon) Bostedt, both of Oconto, Daniel (Joan) Slempkes, Madison and David (Karen) Slempkes, Lena; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcella "Sally" White, Manitowoc and Jane (Gary) Belongia, Oconto; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; an infant brother, Eugene; a brother, Jack (Fran) Bourassa; three sisters, Delores "Ditty" Bourassa, Kathryn (Harry) Froelich and LaVonne (Joe) Brazeau and a lifelong friend, Rita Dorsett.
The family greeted relatives and friends at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena on Monday, Aug. 27 from 2 p.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 4 p.m. with Fr. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Cemetery in Pound. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
