Large Caravan Welcomes Wall That Heals To Crivitz

Issue Date: August 29, 2018

A large caravan that started in Menominee, Mi. and traveled through Marinette, Peshtigo, Coleman, Pound and ended in Crivitz welcomed the Wall That Heals to the area. The Wall was escorted by police and fire departments along the way. Departments involved in the escort included the Crivitz Police Dept., Marinette County Sheriff's Dept., Peshtigo Police Dept., and Coleman Police Dept. Fire Departments from the Cities of Menominee, Marinette, Peshtigo, and Villages of Coleman, Pound and Crivitz also participated. The Rolling Thunder motorcycle group road as an honor guard for the truck carrying the Wall.

John Deschane, Village of Crivitz president said the out pouring from people all along the route was overwhelming. "The people of Marinette County deserve a big thank you for standing in the rain as the caravan passed by" he added, "it was gratifying to see the number of people who really care about our veterans". In the City of Peshtigo, a huge banner on Oconto Avenue read "Gone But Not Forgotten" it was held high by log trucks from Frank's Logging which allowed the caravan to pass underneath. In the Village of Pound, the American flag was stretched across Main Street by two fire department ladder trucks that allowed the caravan to pass by.

People from all over the area will have the opportunity Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday in Crivitz to say good-bye to those who have given their lives in service to our country during the Vietnam War. This will also be an opportunity to take part in properly welcoming home those who served during the Vietnam War.
